Initial Setup

The following chapter explains step by step how to set up your METARMAP after delivery. You typically only need to perform these steps once. Of course, you can also change your METARMAP settings at a later time
This manual is obsolete because the entire process has been revised. METARMAPs can now be set up and customized much more conveniently thanks to METARMAP Connect. Please use the current version of the manual if you purchased your METARMAP after 2025.

Step 1: Connect to Power

Plug the included power adapter into the designated socket on the underside of your METARMAP. Once your METARMAP is powered, it will attempt to establish a Wi-Fi connection. If this doesn't work, your METARMAP will send out its own Wi-Fi signal. This Wi-Fi has the name METAR and is therefore referred to as METAR-WLAN in the following. If you see a Wi-Fi network with the name METAR in range, then connect to it as described in the following Step 2. After you have powered your METARMAP, it can take up to five minutes for the METAR-WLAN to become active.

Step 2: Connect to the METAR-WLAN

Use an internet-capable device (e.g., smartphone, laptop, or PC) to connect to the METAR-WLAN. You can find the necessary access credentials in your personal manual. Once your device is connected to the METAR-WLAN, enter the address http://192.168.16.1/ in your browser. Under this address, you will find the web interface where you can manage all settings of your METARMAP. You can also access the web interface at any time after the initial setup of your METARMAP, see Step 4 or the Button Functions. For the initial setup, only entering your Wi-Fi credentials at your METARMAP's location is mandatory.

Step 3: Configure Your Wi-Fi

When you are on the web interface, you must enter the name and password of your Wi-Fi at your METARMAP's location via the Wi-Fi tab. Once you click Save and Restart, your METARMAP will attempt to establish a connection with the Wi-Fi entered here. Since your METARMAP doesn't work without internet, your Wi-Fi information must be entered here. If your METARMAP cannot connect to the internet, it will send out the METAR-WLAN again. Then you can access the web interface as described in Step 2 to adjust the Wi-Fi credentials in the Wi-Fi tab again. If the Wi-Fi credentials are correct, your METARMAP will begin normal operation, though it can take up to five minutes for your METARMAP to light up. If you set up your METARMAP outside of the on/off times, it will only light up when the on time is reached. You can adjust these times in the web interface under the Times tab, more information can be found here.

Step 4: Normal Operation

If you have successfully completed the previous steps, your METARMAP will now go into normal operation. You can recognize this by the fact that the LED of the Wind legend blinks. You can access the web interface and configure your METARMAP there at any time by pressing the hidden button on the underside of your METARMAP next to the power socket for at least one second. Then the METAR-WLAN will become active again and you can access the web interface as in Step 2 to make your settings.
