FAQ
METAR stands for Meteorological Aerodrome Report — a standardized aviation weather report for a specific aerodrome. METARMAP uses these reports and fetches the latest METAR for 84 aerodromes every five minutes, visualizing the conditions with LEDs on the map.
METARMAP displays the current METAR for many aerodromes using LED colors. Weather data is refreshed regularly and categorized using the GAFOR color scheme. You can fully customize wind thresholds, colors, automatic on/off schedules, and receive updates via METARMAP Connect.
We offer the large, wall-mounted METARMAP (A1) and the METARMAP Mini (A5) for your desk. Both come in different configurations, such as various frame colors and country variants.
METARMAP regularly requests the latest METAR from our servers. Our servers aggregate data from several publicly available sources. This approach maximizes data availability.
To work reliably, METARMAP requires two things: Wi‑Fi and power. Power is supplied via the included adapter. There must be a sufficiently fast Wi‑Fi network within range. METARMAP is not weatherproof and must not be used outdoors.
For setup and all configuration options in the web interface, follow the steps in the included manual. You can find the online version of the manual here.
Power consumption depends on LED brightness and the model. With default settings (50% brightness), the large METARMAP draws about 4.5 W. At 100% brightness, it's roughly 7 W. The METARMAP Mini has similar consumption.
Each METARMAP is assembled and thoroughly tested after your order is placed, ensuring the highest quality. This adds some lead time. Typically, your METARMAP arrives within 7–9 business days. We're working to shorten this process.
There's no waitlist. New units are made available regularly. In your profile, you can enable email notifications to be alerted when new METARMAPs are in stock.
The METARMAP logo is included on every map. If you'd like your own logo or other customizations, contact us and we'll see what's possible.
